Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Enters Innocent Plea in Attempted Murder Case

Ex- NFL player Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to confront an murder attempt allegation stemming from a incident that took place in May, with his attorney submitting a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Detention documents in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his relocation to Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the NFL, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, where he was detained after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an email that he has previously lodged a written innocent declaration to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday morning for a bail session, Eiglarsh stated.

As per his arrest warrant, Brown is accused of seizing a handgun from a safety employee after a public figure boxing event in May and discharging two rounds at a person he had confronted with previously. The claimed target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to authorities that one shot scraped his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only defending himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was compelled to take were solely in self-defense against the claimed individual’s hostile conduct. Brown was targeted that evening and acted within his rightful entitlement to defend himself,” Eiglarsh stated.

Brown was not immediately arrested because initially officers did not recognize Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until later in May that Nantambu gave a full account about the incident to officers and named Brown as the shooter, the affidavit indicates.

From his digital updates, Brown had been living in Dubai for several weeks. In a message after the altercation, Brown stated he was defending himself because he was “assaulted by multiple persons who tried to steal my valuables and inflict physical harm to me.”

A level two murder attempt accusation in Florida carries a maximum 15-year jail sentence and up to a $10,000 fine in the event of a finding.

Brown has encountered several legal problems over the years. He earlier had been charged of physical attack of a delivery operator, several domestic violence allegations, inability to pay parental support and further occurrences.

During a 2021 season game with Tampa Bay against the Jets, Brown took off his jersey, shoulder pads and gloves and exited the field, leading to his termination by the Buccaneers and practically ending his football journey.

Brown, who had a dozen years in the NFL, was an All-Pro wide receiver who devoted the bulk of his time with Pittsburgh. For his time, Brown had over 900 receptions for above twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one gains, the 28th most of all time. He was a multiple-time prestigious selection.
