Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The film will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
